26th March 2024

Donald Trump has failed to secure a $464 million bond by the deadline, resulting in potential repercussions for his assets in a business fraud case.

He has criticized the judgment as un-American and unconstitutional, expressing his discontent with the legal process.

Trump: $464 million bond is UnAmerican

Following the missed deadline, Trump's legal team has contested the bond requirement, with Trump himself calling it unprecedented and unjust.

He has accused the legal system of targeting him unfairly.

Insurance companies, approached by Trump to secure the bond, have expressed surprise at the magnitude of the requirement, with some stating they have never encountered such a high bond demand in similar cases before.

The failure to obtain the bond leaves Trump vulnerable to potential asset seizure or freezing by authorities in New York.

This development marks a significant setback for Trump's defense strategy in the ongoing legal battles.

Stormy Matters

Meanwhile Trump has faced another legal setback in his Stormy Daniels.

The  judge in the case refused to delay the trial, setting April 15 as the start date.

Judge Juan Merchan rejected Trump's lawyers' claim of needing more time after receiving discovery documents. Trump plans to appeal.

Trump arrived at the courtroom frustrated, calling the case a "witch-hunt and a hoax."

His lawyers wanted a 90-day delay or dismissal, citing alleged discovery process violations.

The Manhattan DA disagreed, saying further postponement was unnecessary.

The documents are related to the federal prosecutors' investigation of Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer.

Prosecutors allege Trump directed payments to Cohen to conceal extramarital affairs.

Trump was charged with falsifying business records in April 2023.

The DA claims Cohen paid hush money to Daniels and another woman, coordinated by Trump.

Trump's company reimbursed Cohen. Trump's lawyers accused prosecutors of misconduct and said the documents contained exculpatory evidence.

Trump's lawyers accused prosecutors of misconduct, claiming the documents had evidence favoring Trump.

Judge Merchan questioned Trump's lawyer about discovery law, emphasizing evidence under federal authorities' control wasn't in local prosecutors' possession.

Despite objections, the trial proceeds April 15, adding to Trump's legal woes.
